Why Doing Nothing Is Sometimes the Most Magical Act
Hey witches,
Today I caught myself spiraling into my endless to-do list — clean this, fix that, write this, plan that. My brain was buzzing with all the “shoulds.”
And then I looked outside and saw my kids playing in the mud. Laughing. Making a mess. Just… being.
So I joined them.
I squished mud between my fingers and asked my toddler what they thought of it. Their answer? “Bleck!” (which made me laugh even harder).
We made a mess — a glorious mess of a mess. And when we were done, we took a bath, read a book, watched some TV, and had noodles and cookies for dinner. Nothing fancy. Just fun.
And you know what? Not cleaning, not stressing, and choosing to play was the best decision I made today.
Reflection + Magic:
We forget sometimes that rest, play, and joy are part of being human — part of being magical. You don’t always need to be productive. Sometimes doing nothing (or doing something silly) is the spell.
So today, I invite you to:
-
Mindlessly scroll without guilt
-
Walk barefoot and get your feet dirty
-
Eat comfort food without analyzing the health “pros and cons”
-
Laugh, nap, and let yourself be imperfect
Sacred rest doesn’t mean laziness. It means giving yourself space to breathe. To feel. To live.
✨ What’s one small, “unproductive” thing you can do this week that might actually feed your spirit?
Because rest, joy, and cookies? That’s real magic.
